How to Prepare for an
Amazing Picture Day!
Quick Tips
Treat Picture Day like a regular day! Children pick up on your feelings and if you’re anxious, they will be too.
Try not to “prep” them. For example, comments like, “Make sure to smile big”, can actually make it more difficult for kiddos to be comfortable with the camera and me.
Missing a front tooth or hair that won’t cooperate? No need to stress. School pictures are a great keepsake, not because they are always perfect portraits, but because they show how your child has changed throughout the years.
What to Wear
The backdrops I use are always a solid color so that I can focus on your child’s beautiful expressions. In the same respect, clothing should also be simple.
Please stay away from logos and wording as words can get cropped off and become distracting.
Choose an outfit that is comfortable and low maintenance. If your child is uncomfortable or wearing something they do not want to wear, it can definitely show in the picture.
All images are shot from the shoulder and waist up, so don’t worry about pants and shoes.
My Goal
I do not believe in forcing a child to "perform" just for the sake of capturing "the shot" - but rather I do my best to work with your child, make them comfortable, and enjoy the short minute or two we have. Please understand that all images are shot with the goal of being "real" and who they are in that moment. Some laugh, some are shy, some bounce and giggle... and I attempt to artistically capture all of this.
