A Special Picture Day Tradition: Capturing Teachers with Their Little Ones

One of the most meaningful moments on picture day isn’t just about the students—it’s about the teachers, too. As a preschool photographer, I have the unique privilege of capturing not only the little ones as they grow but also the teachers who pour their hearts into nurturing them.

And for those teachers who have a child enrolled at the school? I always encourage them to step in for a quick photo together. No extra charge, no strings attached—just a small way for me to show my appreciation for everything they do.

These years are fleeting. One moment, you’re dropping them off in the toddler room, and the next, they’re off to kindergarten. But in between, there’s this sweet window of time where a teacher isn’t just a teacher—they’re also a mom or dad, seeing their child thrive in the same environment where they give so much of themselves.

The teachers love these photos, and so do I! It’s a joy to freeze this moment for them—to give them a tangible memory of the days when their child was still little, still in their arms, still looking up at them with that spark of recognition and love.

If you’re a teacher at one of my schools, I hope you’ll step in for a picture next time. Because they’re only little for so long, and you deserve to remember this season—not just as an educator, but as a parent, too.
